Accommodation and Food
Built in 1927, the Skalanes farmhouse was renovated in 2007 to become a clean, warm and well-equipped home. We offer bed and breakfast accommodation, or full board to include lunch and/or dinner as requested. Our guest accommodation consists of comfortable bedrooms, each containing two bunk beds, and each with an en suite toilet. The rooms open out onto a private balcony with uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape – mountains, water and sky as far as the eye can see.
Meals are served in the spacious conservatory and mostly consist of locally sourced, traditionally cooked food with the occasional contemporary twist. We take full advantage of our rural position to offer you fresh fish, Icelandic lamb, reindeer and many other regional delicacies. You may also have the opportunity to try smoked fish and meat from our traditional turf-built smoke house.
The guest house has many facilities to make your stay as comfortable as possible including an ever growing library, lounge with wood burning stove, laundry facilities, drying room, and bathrooms with showers and a bath. The outside seating area has a sauna and a hot tub, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and the 24 hour day light, or the Aurora Borealis depending on the season.

“Great views but very cold wind. It was nice to come in and warm up by the fireplace. Thank you for tea and kindness”Maria and Daniel – Finland, July 2007
